Artist Biography: Nils Engquist was a prominent Swedish painter recognized for his mastery of animal portraiture and atmospheric landscapes. His artistic development was profoundly influenced by his studies under the legendary Bruno Liljefors, Sweden’s most renowned wildlife artist. From Liljefors, Engquist inherited a keen eye for biological accuracy combined with a painterly, impressionistic touch. His work is characterized by its deep connection to the Nordic wilderness, often capturing wildlife and forest scenes in soft, natural light.
